The Paddock: New Public Realm Space Opens in Chatham

We are pleased to announce the completion of our £2.8 million transformation of The Paddock in Chatham for Medway Council. This vibrant public space is now open to the public, marked by a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The revitalisation includes new planted areas, formed using solid granite blocks and corten steel retaining walls, designed to enhance biodiversity. An amphitheatre for central events, complete with granite seating and an engraved historic map of Chatham, adding a unique cultural touch.

We've also installed new granite paved and resin-bound access paths and redesigned the entrance to improve accessibility. Additionally, new lighting and anti-vandalism measures have been put in place to enhance safety and durability.

These improvements not only celebrate Chatham's rich heritage but also enhance accessibility and ease of movement, making The Paddock a welcoming space for both residents and visitors

The redesigned Paddock area is a great addition to Chatham – providing a relaxing outdoor space with a wealth of different plant species to improve biodiversity. Medway is already a great place to live and work but regeneration projects like this are continuing to make it even better for everyone who lives and works here.
