Blakedown Landscapes' Sam Elliott Volunteers for BBC One's DIY SOS: The Big Build
Our Assistant Contracts Manager, Sam Elliott, was one of the incredible team who volunteered their services to DIY SOS: The Big Build in collaboration with BBC One's EastEnders, to create a mental health and wellbeing hub for Butterfly Effect Well-Being in Harlow.
The Butterfly Effect is a community interest company who run a range of groups designed to bring people together and improve mental health - these include a men's meet up, 'chill and chat' teen sessions and a baby group. They also run workshops and offer a range of holistic therapy classes.
The build will enable the Butterfly Effect to offer more services to even more people who really need help, currently on long waiting lists for support and potentially at risk of self-harm and suicide.
Sam specifically assisted with the allotment garden preparing the soil bank for turfing, building a benches from railway sleepers, moving and speading 3 tonnes of Cedec, assembling flat-pack furniture,
This incredibly important, potentially life-saving project, was aired on BBC One's The Big Build on Monday, 18th December.
