This complex scheme to expand Camberwell Old Cemetery required Blakedown to manage a number of specialist contractors, including those called in to remove and dispose of contaminated soil from across the designated area. We established paths and installed drainage channels and large water attenuation tanks to allow all water to be removed safely from the site. Steps into the cemetery from the main road and retaining walls and memorials were all constructed as part of the project. Seating, handrails and site furniture were also installed, and all soft landscaping works completed. The cemetery is now full of biodiversity and a peaceful place for reflection.
